From Humble Beginnings to a
Locally Trusted Powerhouse
Founded by Don and Karen as a small family-run butcher shop, Master Butchers Whitsunday has proudly served the Whitsunday region since 2009 and grown from a single store to a trusted brand. Built on hard work, traditional skills and strong community values, it quickly earned a loyal customer base and reputation for consistency and quality.
As demand grew, so did the business. After expanding the existing Master Butchers Whitsunday store, a second retail store MBW on the Barbie—designed for convenience and tailored BBQ friendly range—was opened in 2014. After outgrowing and even more demand, the third retail store MBW at Marian was established, gaining an even more solid reach in the region in 2018. In 2020, the wholesale department officially outgrew the flagship retail store and moved to a purpose-built facility in Cannonvale to become MBW Wholesale and Bulk.
As the business grew, so did the needs of our customers, leading to the expansion of our Stewart Drive store to include Master Butchers Kitchen, an in-house kitchen designed to offer quality and convenience with a range of family-sized easy dinners, gourmet sides, fresh salads, pies and pastries. The success of the kitchen has allowed us to expand our offering beyond the one location, with MBW on the Barbie and MBW at Marian both being exclusive stockists of Master Butchers Kitchen products, ensuring customers across all locations can enjoy the same quality, convenience and variety.
From a single shopfront in Cannonvale to a multi-location butcher group with an in-house kitchen and wholesale factory, Master Butchers Whitsunday has stayed true to its roots—quality meats, expert service and strong community values.

Who do you supply through your wholesale division?

If you are a venue owner or chef, we’d love to chat about how we can support your supply needs. Give our wholesale division a call on 07 4948 1332.
Can you request specific cuts or portion sizes from a butcher?
Yes, that’s one of the major advantages of shopping at a butcher. Most butchers are happy to accommodate specific requests for portion sizes, thickness, or even style of cut depending on how you plan to cook it. For example, you can ask for thin schnitzel slices, thick steaks, diced beef for stews, or bone-in roasts. Butchers can also provide advice on which cuts are best suited for slow cooking, grilling, or pan-frying. This level of customisation isn’t typically available at supermarkets, making butcher shops ideal for home cooks, meal preppers, or anyone with dietary or portioning needs.
